Garage Project started as a brewery operated, unsurprisingly, out of a garage in Wellington, New Zealand. Pete Gillespie & Jos Ruffell have evolved their project in the past decade in various directions, including wine. Alex Craighead from Kindeli wine came on board to collaborate on several “Garage Project Crushed” releases, including a series of “Fairy Bread” field blends of grapes from vineyards in the Nelson and Marlborough areas (across the Cook Strait from Wellington, on the northern end of the South Island).
This mix of sauvignon blanc (60%), pinot gris (20%), gewürztraminer (10%), and Chardonnay (5%) is co-fermented with wild yeasts, aged in stainless steel, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Bright tangerine and orange dance on a slight spritz. Enjoy this juicy, hazy, sour-beer-esque quaff with quince paste-taleggio on toast.
Organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
Tasting Notes
Cloudy peach in color. Zesty and grassy on the nose. Starts with some stone fruit on the palate but finishes off dry and astringent. Mildly effervescent.
11.5% ABV / 750ml
