Product Details
Early vine development was steady with spring temperatures being average or slightly below and low rainfall. Flowering occurred during cool and relatively wet conditions causing smaller berry sizes and low bunch weights. Cooler conditions prevailed throughout the growing season, in particular March which was one of the coolest we have experienced. With the natural moderate to low yields and cool and extended ripening conditions, flavors were ripe and concentrated, with good vibrancy and acidity. The cooler and edgier growing season combined with our Bannockburn sites and intensive viticultural inputs, contribute to the 2020 Bannockburn Pinot Noir possessing profound character and depth. Cornish Point ripened surprisingly early with picking commencing on March 20 and concluding at MacMuir and The Elms on April 20.
Tasting Notes
Bramble, autumnal forest after rain and bright berry fruits lead the nose. Sweet fruit on the entry coats the mouth; immediately expansive and alluring.
Incredibly balanced and harmonious with the fruit depth defining the immediate pleasure, but without the wine falling victim to being ‘fruit driven’. Silk-laden tannins complete the mouthfeel and demonstrate an apparent boundless capacity to develop nuance and complexity. The harmony undoubtedly comes from the caliber of our four primely situated and respectfully farmed Bannockburn vineyards.
